Used Teknion Cubicles: Power and Data Guide for GTA Offices (2026)

A used cubicle run can look perfect in photos and still fail on day one if power and data were not planned. Monitors, docks, phones and chargers all need outlets where people actually sit — and running extension cords across a floor is not a solution. This guide explains how power and data work in used Teknion cubicles, what to check before you buy, and what complete, work-ready stations cost in CAD in the GTA.

At Ufficio Furniture, Teknion is our main cubicle inventory — we carry far more Teknion cubicles than any other brand. Browse our current selection on our office cubicles page, or visit us in Mississauga to see powered stations assembled and working.

How Power Gets Into a Teknion Cubicle Run

Most Teknion systems — TOS, Leverage and Expansion — carry power in a raceway at the base of the panels or in a spine under the work surfaces. A feed entry connects the run to the building: either a hardwired base feed from a floor or wall junction, or a plug-in feed where the local code and building allow it. From that feed, power travels station to station through in-feed cables and panel-to-panel jumpers.

Each workstation then gets receptacles clipped into the raceway, usually at base height or, on some configurations, at work-surface height. A typical well-planned station has two to four receptacles: enough for a dock, two monitors and a phone charger without a power bar on the floor.

Circuits matter too. Commercial cubicle power is commonly set up as multiple circuits sharing a run, so a large floor is not all riding on one breaker. Ask how many circuits a used lot was wired for and whether the feeds, jumpers and receptacles are included — those small parts are what make a used run install cleanly instead of stalling on site.

Data, Phones and Cable Management

Data usually runs in the same base raceway or a separate channel, ending in data jacks at the panel or in a surface box. Before you buy, count the data drops you need per seat: a wired workstation typically needs one drop for the computer or dock and sometimes a second for a desk phone or printer station.

Check three practical details. First, are data faceplates and jack openings present, or will your IT contractor need to add them? Second, is there room in the raceway for modern cabling without crushing it against power cables? Third, how do cables get from the raceway to the desk — grommets, surface raceways or monitor-arm routing all keep a station tidy and safe.

At Ufficio Furniture we recommend walking your IT person through photos of the exact lot you are buying, or bringing them to our Mississauga showroom. Ten minutes of checking beats re-running cable after installation day.

What to Check Before You Buy Used Powered Cubicles

Use this checklist on any used Teknion lot, ours or anyone else's:

  • Feeds included At least one working feed entry per run, matched to how your building supplies power.

  • Jumpers and connectors Panel-to-panel power jumpers present for every joint in your layout.

  • Receptacles per seat: Count them in the photos and in person — two per seat is a practical minimum.

  • Raceway covers: Base covers present and intact; missing covers look unfinished and expose cabling.

  • Data provisions: Faceplates, openings or surface boxes accounted for in your plan.

  • Licensed electrician: Final hardwired connection to the building must be done by a licensed electrician — budget for that visit when you plan installation.

A cheaper lot missing its power kit often costs more in the end, because sourcing individual feeds and receptacles for a discontinued configuration takes time. Complete lots from a single office are the best value, which is how we stock Teknion at Ufficio.

What Complete Powered Stations Cost in CAD

As a working guide for 2026, used Teknion workstations with power included typically run about $495 to $895 CAD per workstation for standard 6x6 or 6x8 stations, and $895 to $1,495 CAD per workstation for larger or more private configurations with fuller storage and more receptacles. Benching-style Expansion seats with a shared power spine can start lower, around $450 to $795 CAD per seat. Delivery and professional installation in the GTA are quoted per project based on count, floor and elevator access, and the electrician's connection is separate.

Compare that with new powered systems, which commonly cost several times more per seat once feeds, receptacles and installation are added. That gap is why GTA businesses buy used Teknion first and put the savings into chairs, meeting furniture or IT.
